In September, I attended an event for the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, DFS. The “First Class Beauty” event was held at the Galleria in Sydney on George Street. It was an exclusive global event, which also took place in five international airports and 14 Galleria stores across nine countries including Hawaii, Hong Kong and Los Angeles etc.

“First Class Beauty by DFS was created to offer customers a one-of-a-kind experience inspired by travel. The program highlights DFS’ unique offerings of luxury beauty products across cosmetics, skincare and fragrances, exceptional range of services and delightful in-store experiences.”

At the event, after being greeted at the door by the PR agency Blue Planet, we were kindly escorted through the surprising number of levels of DFS, accommodating everything travel. We reached the top level and were served with Moet in what I would call a golden goblet, perfectly paired with delicious canapés overlooking a very stunning view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

It was a completely different experience to the fashion events I had attended in the past; since its focus was purely on luxury beauty. Something in all honestly, I am not so familiar with. If you were to ask me about any high-class beauty products or the places to go to purchase these products, I wouldn’t even know where to start (this is the inner tomboy in me talking).
However, attending this event was a big eye opener, I was introduced to a large range of high-end beauty products such as La Mer and La Prairie. The products were applied through hand and arm massages, along with skin consultations, we were informed about the natural ingredients used and the proper application for the products to achieve the best results.

Not only did they impress with the beauty products on offer, to celebrate the event, they had a photo-booth, which me and Chin had so much fun in.

They also offered us a customised travel journal with our names written in calligraphy to celebrate their DFS Fall/Winter 2014 Campaign by T Galleria. Check out their video below featuring Micheal Kors.

The DFS staff were incredibly nice and so lovely to get along with, in my conversations with each different staff member, it was clear to see that they all shared a family bond, most of them had worked for DFS for more than 3 years. A bond which was very clearly translated through their customer service, that was nothing short of high end luxury.

Just through this experience alone, it took me back to when I a child, curiously watching my mother apply her face creams and moisturisers. I started to reminisce of my travel overseas with my family; my mother and father would dress me head to toe in my best clothes and them in theirs. It was a formal event, they saw it as a special occasion, almost as a celebration, my mother especially, would not be able to contain her excitement walking into the duty free store, I remember her absolutely going crazy with all the beauty products on display. This is exactly the type of nostalgia DFS brings back to travelling and shopping; “seeing the word through the travellers touch, inspired by curiosity, the invitation to dream, a promise to delight and the legacy of adventure”.

I have travelled a fair bit, whether it be interstate or overseas, it is nice to be reminded about what travelling is all about.

I’ll let you in on a little secret, after the event, I had tried La Mer and now, I am absolutely hooked! For someone who previously could care less about the product used on their face, I am now looking to invest on the care of my skin. After using the products, my skin has never been better, no foundation required, I absolutely swear by it!

So I’m sure you can guess what I’ll be doing within a months time when I travel to Philippines Boracay? Yup, I’ll be treating me to some of that DFS duty free first class beauty hahahaha!
For those of you who aren’t planning to travel soon, you can show an international ticket travelling within 3 months time. You can also head to the nearest DFS Galleria, where you don’t have a time limit on your shopping experience and you can enjoy your retail therapy with less stress.

Just a bit of a special treat, I came across one of my favourite bloggers Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper Vintage, sharing beauty tips about her trips featured on the DFS website, click HERE to check it out.

Beauty Campaign Event

Shirt – ASOS  |  Disco Pants – American Apparel  |  Shoes – Converse  |  Jacket – Cotton On  |  Bag – Shirt Bag from Cream

At college, I met this girl called Kat and she was wearing the most awesome bag I’ve ever seen. No, it was not a big brand name like Luis Vuitton or Chanel, it was actually a brand that I had never heard of before.

We were walking to the food court and I expressed that I needed a new backpack. I realised my Coach and Michael Kors bag was not appropriate to be carrying books in (face palm moment).

She then told me about her awesome bag that was made from a shirt. At first I thought it sounded pretty cool but as soon as I laid my eyes on it,  I was in awe.

It was AWESOME!!!

You should really see this bag in person to understand the extensiveness of how awesome it actually is but I’ll try my best to describe it.  The front of the bag where the collar was located was actually a pocket and the sides where the sleeves were sewn were pockets too.

Ok, so I’ll be the first to admit that I get pretty damn excited when I see something I like. However, this bag was so awesome that another girl in class overheard our conversation and bought the bag too. Now we all match hehehe.

The weekend after, I went to buy the bag in Newtown Sydney and realized that they had an amazing collection of clothes. I was upset that I didn’t know about this store earlier.

The bags that they stocked all had individual designs, none of them were the same. This made the selection process so much harder because I could only choose one.

Initially I was leaning more towards the crazy patterned and coloured design but then Chin reminded me that I would be using the bag everyday. So I decided to go for the red, still bold but at least I can match it with a lot more outfits.

If you haven’t already heard of the store you should definitely check it out (unfortunately it is only located in Australia) -http://www.creamonline.com.au/

If you are in Australia, you can find the stores at –

Disco Pants – American Apparel  |  Top/Dress – Forever New  |  Flats – Court Couture  |  Tote Bag – Michael Kors  |  Sunglasses – Tiffany & Co.

The day I watched Olivia Newton John rocking the tight, high-waisted, shimmery disco pants in the movie Grease, I was in love. As a young girl you tend to create fairy tales in your mind, much like the storyline of Grease where the nerdy girls gets the man of her dreams by looking like a complete babe!!! Joking! …… NOT! :) But seriously, we all know when watching that scene as a girl it makes you want to be her or if you’re watching the scene as a guy, it makes you want to be John Travolta hehehe. My point is, she made it look so damn good that you either wanted to be her, be with her or the next best thing; wear what she was wearing! 35 years later and the disco pants are back hotter than ever and available in a variety of colours.

Roughly 4 years ago I saw them in a show called Jerseylicious (yes, I am a sucker for lame reality TV shows) and I wanted them sooo bad, but never knew where to get them.  2 years ago I saw Jessie J wearing them, at this stage I was blood hungry! My want turned into an overwhelming need for these disco pants. I didn’t even know what the hell they were called at the time. Finally the day came when I saw a girl wearing them on the train and I automatically went into hunt mode. I stalked that poor girl until I got close enough to get an answer from her. She told me she got them from a store called American Apparel, so that night I went home and ordered my very first pair. More than a year later, I still think it was one of the best fashion decisions I’ve ever made. The disco pants has truly become a favorite in my wardrobe, it’s simply a piece I cannot go without.

The first pair I ever got were black. I thought I would keep it fairly safe as black goes with pretty much anything. Since then my taste has evolved to ‘the brighter the colour the better’. It’s so much more exciting! Personally I find I get more creative when I style my own outfits. My disco pants colour is lavender, otherwise known as a rich purple. I love this colour because it’s crazy, different and out there.

You can check out all the different colours available on the American Apparel website – http://store.americanapparel.com.au/rsaah300.html

What colour are you?

Stay tuned for this weeks outfits.

Thanks for visiting :)
